Program Overview
Learn from experienced captains and rescue professionals in this special course format. This First Aid/CPR course satisfies requirements for First Aid and CPR certifications, while emphasizing the contextual importance of knowledge and safety for the mariner. Course curriculum also includes maritime-specific modules, such as drowning, cold water immersion, maritime safety systems, and hypothermia.

CURRICULUM & OBJECTIVES
Manage risk through pre trip planning and preventative techniques: 1st Aid Kits, Pre Trip Medical Assessments, Travel Medicine, Telemedicine
Assess and treat life threatening emergencies: CPR, Patient Assessment, Airway management, hemorrhage control, shock, and stabilization.
Practice common trauma management techniques: Wounds and fractures, head injuries, neck and spine injuries, blunt trauma, burns, dental and eye traumas.
Develop important judgment skills for the assessment and evacuation of medical and environmental emergencies at sea: Hypothermia, Heat illness, marine animal bites and stings, dive emergencies, lightning at sea, cardiac and respiratory emergencies, diabetes, seizures, anaphylaxis.
CERTIFICATIONS
Basic First Aid for Mariners certification, valid for 2 years
CPR: AED Adult/ Child/ Infant, valid for 2 years
Accreditations Include:
World Sailing Offshore Special Regulation (OSR 6.05) Medical Training requirement
US Sailing Senior First Aid Requirement
United States Coast Guard: Elementary First Aid training requirements of Section AVI/1 and Table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW Code and 46 CFR 11.202(b)(3); AND if presented within one year of the date of training, the First Aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.205(e)(1)(ii) and 11.205(e)(2)(iii) for original issuance of an officer endorsement.

This program is taught almost exclusively on a private basis to different clubs, race teams, charter boats, fishing vessels, and regattas. Inquire about scheduling a course specific to your boat or group.
